Coca-Cola Launches Christmas Ringtone Campaign
While Diet Coke in the U.S. is delivering live tunes to your cell phone, German counterparts for DC's sugard namesake are turning up the holiday ringtones.
Working with mobile solutions provider conVISUAL, the cola giant is offering a Christmas song ”Holidays are coming“ (sung in English) that is has used in popular campaigns in Europe, as a free ringback tone for T-Mobile and Vodafone customers in Germany.
Coca-Cola’s free Christmas ringback tone replaces callers’ existing ringback tone for a limited time.
It can be activated from a special mobile section on the Coca-Cola mobile portal. Or, customers can send a short message with the keyword COKE to the short code 44144. Subscribers to other networks can access the ringback via the Christmas section on the Coca-Cola mobile portal.
Once downloaded, the people who call you will hear this song until you answer the phone. That is if they don't hang up before you do.
See, this is the country that made David Hasselhoff a major pop music star, so that should give you an idea of what this ringback is like. (If you're daring, you can listen to it here.)
Don't get me wrong: It's catchy and not at all cynical.
Which means you'll instantly understand why this particular stretch of the Coke Side of Life didn't quite make it to the U.S.
