Myxer Launches Web-To-SMS-Mobile Web Advertising
MyxerTones is mixing Web and mobile advertising for its clients.
The Deerfield Beach, Fla.-based portal, which enables users to create, share and sell mobile content, today announced the launch of a new mobile advertising and brand sponsorship platform that enables marketers to target mobile consumers with multi-modal campaigns that span the Web to SMS to the mobile Web.
Now, advertisers can target advertising at Myxer's 2 million users based on the kind of digital content the user is downloading from MyxerTones - music, video, pictures, you name it.
According to the company, ads can be pinpointed to reach users who live in a particular geographic area or who enjoy a particular musical genre (such as rock, hip-hop, Latin, country, etc.) and can be targeted to the user or to the content that is being downloaded. For example, a MyxerTones user in Texas who downloads a country music ringtone may receive a mobile advertisement or SMS sponsorship from a brand wishing to target that particular demographic.
The platform's first client is C3 Presents, the company behind Lollapalooza and the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
As Kevin Brown, who runs interactive marketing for C3 Presents, puts it in a statement: “Directly reaching our key demographic through MyxerTones not only helps maximize the efficient use of our advertising budget, but also demonstrates to our customers that we are in touch with the latest in mobile music technology."
Sound interesting enough - but the prospect of being able to target multi-modal ads across networks - i.e., not just on a single source with a single user base - would no doubt up the value of such offerings tremendously.
